Interest groups are a key part of Victoria 3’s Internal, which is the first time we have seen them in a game. In V3, you will be able to form and manage your own group to help pursue your own goals (and those of your friends). The groups are the largest, most powerful institutions in the game, and there are lots of them. Most are involved in various activities, such as farming, exploring, or making things, but a few groups are more specialised, such as science, diplomacy, or caravaning.

The most exciting thing about playing a game is being part of a community, a special group of people who share an interest in the same thing. When it comes to games like Victoria 3, it can be easy to forget that this is something that makes the entire game. It’s not just the people who made the game, but every single person who plays it. Our community is a big part of why we play Victoria 3 so much.

For those of you who don’t know, Victoria 3 is a multiplayer game that runs on the Steam platform. This blog post is meant to explain what we mean when we use the term “interest group”, and how it’s an important part Victoria 3’s internal workings.

Countries are complex entities in Victoria 3, and the people under your authority will take the time to voice their opinions when it comes to the direction you take them. One of the things that you will often have to deal with is that of interest groups, which is also the subject of today’s developer agenda 6.

Essentially, an interest group is a collection of people who hold certain political views and want to change the country to better reflect those views. Interest groups follow different patterns, but their views vary from country to country, depending on factors such as local religion, social movements that have emerged in the country, or the personal views of their leader, explains developer .

The individuals who make up the various Victoria 3 popes are either members of special interest groups or politically inactive. Factors such as occupation, level of accumulated wealth or literacy level play a role in determining the number of people in the two categories.

The greater a person’s wealth and status, the more political power they give to the interest group of their choice.

It is important to note that fathers do not uniformly determine which interest groups they support – individuals within fathers determine their own interest groups, and a father may have individuals who support all interest groups in the game (in varying numbers), explains the developer.

The laws of your country may also deprive some fathers of any political power, and they will then resort to other methods of turning things to their advantage.

The views of the Victoria 3 interest groups are determined by their ideology, which determines which laws they prefer to pass and which they prefer not to tackle.

The landowners, mostly belonging to the aristocracy, are generally conservative, but the ideology is not completely set in stone. Not only can they change during the game, but they are also influenced by the leader of the active interest group based on their own beliefs.

Influence is based on the political strength of the members who make up the interest group, and is calculated by comparing their political strength with that of other interest groups in the country – if all the interest groups in Belgium have a combined political strength of 100k and the landowners have 30k, then they each have 30% influence in Belgium

Depending on the degree of influence, the Victoria 3 stakeholder group can be classified as influential, influential or marginal.

Interest groups also have approval ratings based on factors such as B. how much they approve of the country’s laws, whether they are in government or in opposition, and how many of their individual members are loyalists or radicals, explains dev agenda 6 Victoria 3.

Many other factors can also affect approval, for example B. how you react to certain events or decisions you make.

Influence and consent determine both the active characteristics of the interest group and its effectiveness.

There are different traits, positive and negative, where positive traits are activated when the interest group is happy and negative traits when they are…not very happy. If an interest group is influential, the effects of all active traits (good or bad) will be stronger, whereas a marginal interest group cannot activate any traits because it is too weak to influence the whole country.

The last part of the 6. The Victoria 3 developer diary acknowledges that the lack of political parties has often been raised by the community, but at the same time gives some hope to players that they would like to see them in the game.

On this point, I can say that we are now looking at a solution whereby in some countries parties can be formed as associations of interest groups with a common political platform. This is something that is not entirely certain at this stage, so don’t see this as a 100% firm commitment to how they will work. What I can say for sure is that we will come back to this particular subject later!

Victoria 3 is scheduled for a PC release, but no date has been set yet. Previous deviation logs focused on production methods, product categories and buildings.
